Moving Companies With Zero Federal Complaints and Clean Safety Records

Of 23,789 movers profiled in the Trunk database, only 17 meet all three criteria: five or more years in business, five or more trucks, and zero complaints in the FMCSA National Consumer Complaint Database.

That is 0.07%. The overwhelming majority of moving companies, even good ones, accumulate at least one federal complaint over a multi-year period. These 17 have not.

Three filters produce this list.

Five or more years in business. This eliminates new companies that have not been operating long enough to generate complaints. A company with zero complaints after six months means very little. A company with zero complaints after 20 years means something.

Five or more trucks. This eliminates very small operators who perform so few moves that the absence of complaints may simply reflect low volume rather than high quality. A one-truck company doing 50 moves a year and a 50-truck company doing 5,000 moves a year are not comparable.

Zero NCCDB complaints. Not one. Not 'low.' Zero.

The 17 companies that meet all three criteria are listed in the table below, sorted by years in business. The geographic concentration is notable: the majority are in the mid-Atlantic and Atlanta metro areas. This may reflect regional business cultures, local regulatory environments, or simply the composition of the Trunk database.

A zero-complaint record is a strong positive signal, but it is not a guarantee of perfect service. The NCCDB captures complaints that consumers choose to file with the federal government. Many dissatisfied customers never file. Some resolve issues directly with the company. Others complain to the BBB, Google, or Yelp instead.

What zero complaints does tell you is that no customer was unhappy enough to go through the FMCSA complaint process. That process requires effort: finding the NCCDB website, filling out a detailed form, providing documentation. The absence of even one person going through that process over five or more years is meaningful.

Smaller companies on this list (5 to 10 trucks) may have zero complaints partly because they perform fewer moves per year. A company doing 200 moves a year has fewer opportunities for complaints than one doing 2,000.

Some companies may have resolved complaints before they were filed, either through excellent customer service or through pressure. The NCCDB only captures filed complaints, not all customer interactions.
