Moving Companies Currently Under Investigation (2026)

This page tracks moving companies that are currently involved in active legal proceedings, federal investigations, or regulatory enforcement actions. Every entry is based on public records: court filings, FMCSA authority actions, state attorney general cases, or confirmed law enforcement referrals.

This is not a list of companies with bad reviews. These are companies with documented legal exposure.

Wang v. Safe Ship Moving Services LLC (Palm Beach County Case No. 502025CA012956). Active-duty Navy officer Ke Wang filed suit after Safe Ship brokered his PCS move to Ver Vanlines LLC, a carrier that was not legally incorporated when FMCSA granted it authority. Belongings were picked up August 14, 2025 and have not been delivered. Trunk research was cited as evidence in August 2026 court filings. Status: active.

Vellar Holdings LLC (Safe Ship) v. USMPO (Southern District of Florida). Safe Ship's parent company filed a federal trademark lawsuit against USMPO, a consumer protection nonprofit, for listing Safe Ship as 'not verified.' Five months before filing, Safe Ship CEO Roger Vance called USMPO's founder on a recorded line and threatened litigation. Status: active.

Amerisafe Vanlines v. USMPO (Southern District of Florida). Filed alongside the Safe Ship lawsuit with nearly identical claims and the same legal counsel. Status: active.

Colonial Van Lines v. USMPO (Southern District of Florida). Third coordinated lawsuit against USMPO. The court granted the defendant's first Motion to Dismiss, finding Colonial 'pled nothing more than conclusory facts.' Status: active, pending.

Ward v. Movers and Packers Relocation Specialists LLC. Consumer lawsuit against a carrier with 200+ NCCDB complaints operating out of New Jersey. Status: active.

Poticny v. Movers and Packers Relocation Specialists LLC. Second consumer lawsuit against the same carrier. Status: active.

Sherwood Lane Network (FBI referral, FMCSA federal investigation). In August 2026, KMBC Kansas City reported an FBI referral related to warehouses at 127 Sherwood Lane, Fairfield, NJ and 501 Olive Street, Leavenworth, KS, where consumer belongings tracked via GPS were stored without authorization. ABC7 confirmed a separate FMCSA federal investigation. Companies connected to the network include Handle With Care Moving (DOT 3190967, authority revoked March 2026), Logistic Moving Services LLC (DOT 4433059), Noble Storage and Moving, and JCS Moving and Storage LLC. The network spans New Jersey, Georgia, Kansas, and potentially additional states.

Cross Country Movers consumer investigations. Multiple state-level consumer complaints and regulatory inquiries involving Cross Country Movers (DOT 2780116) and related entities including Cross Country Long Distance Movers (DOT 3051646). Complaint patterns documented across NCCDB, BBB, and state AG offices.

State of Florida v. Charles Gordon Abrams et al. (Broward County Case CACE-22-017919). The Florida Attorney General shut down Gold Standard Moving and Storage and eight connected companies. Consent Final Judgment entered March 6, 2025: over $4 million in penalties and lifetime industry bans for three operators. This was the largest state-level enforcement action against a moving fraud network.

United States v. USA Logistics Inc. (Central District of California). Federal court ordered USA Logistics to pay $25,000 for unauthorized household goods transport. The company had 97 NCCDB complaints and a BBB F rating.

Eviction: 501 Olive Street Warehouse, Leavenworth, KS (Leavenworth County Case LV-2026-LM-001337). Default eviction judgment against Logistic Moving Services LLC of Tucker, GA. The landlord reported consumers arriving with GPS trackers looking for their belongings, multiple police calls, and tenants who stopped paying rent.

Handle With Care Moving and Transportation LLC (DOT 3190967). Authority revoked March 2026. Single-truck operator with 147 NCCDB complaints, the highest per-truck complaint rate in the FMCSA database. Connected to the Sherwood Lane warehouse network. Based in Tucker, GA.

Loyal Moving and Storage LLC (DOT 4256547). Authority revoked. Connected to multiple consumer complaints involving hostage loads and price escalation. Based in New Jersey.
