| 5/5 | Showed up on time and got to moving right away. Very efficient and took good care of my items, wrapping and taping fragile items well. They took apart my bedframe and put it back together at the new place as well. Would recommend and would use again in the future. | Chloe Schneider | |
| 5/5 | Moving out has always been really stressful for me, but Stairhoppers made this experience really easy. I filled out the form online and someone called the day after to confirm details. They are absolutely experts and friendly people, which allowed me to be hands off and focus on my personal stuff during the move. I was initially scared by the quote, but it was cheaper than expected and they are transparent with cost breakdowns. Everything was handled almost perfectly with no damages. My minor complaint is they lost a couple screws for my furniture and forgot to pack up 2 drawers of kitchenware. Overall, I would use Stairhoppers again and just be more involved during the process next time. | C | |

| 5/5 | Had a good experience with a local move in the Boston area. Nothing was damaged and the crew disassembled and reassembled my bedframe and couch for me. Busira and his friendly workers were professional, punctual, and quick. I was informed after they arrived that company policy does not permit moving of live plants, so I ended up stuffing my enormous 7 foot dracaena & co in the back of a friend's 4-seater Mazda. I wish I could sign a waiver or pay extra so they'd accept the plants next time because the experience was otherwise great. The whole move took only 4 hours. | Will Veazy | |
| 5/5 | What mattered most counted. All our things made it undamaged. They wrap every item very carefully. Be aware that the customer pays for materials and they are generous with materials (tape, wrap, boxes, etc). I had a good team and they were very thorough and the team leader sounded like he had a lot of experience. Downsized from 1100sqft to 700 and they were very knowledgeable on what they thought would fit on what needed to be disassembled. Great overall. Ended up being more expensive than we budgeted for, but they did a great job. | Nathaniel Camillo | |
| 5/5 | Stairhopper recently took care of my move from my 1 bdr apartment to my new home. I had called over a month in advance of the move and mentioned it was a large 1 bedroom and that I would also require packing. I had asked if they planned to do a survey, but was assured over the phone it wouldn't be necessary. The crew showed up around 15 minutes after the estimated time, and were professional throughout the entire job. However, during the packing it became apparent that the job was not going at the speed as initially estimated. What was initially quoted for being around a 3-3.5 hour job ended up taking 8+hours including travel time. Unfortunately the final bill ended up being 300%+ more than the estimate, which is more than half of the original estimate. With that being said, every one of my possessions arrived safely, undamaged, and service exceeded my expectations. If you choose Stairhopper, know you'll definitely be getting the best around, but I would encourage you to insist on them doing a proper survey in order to not have any surprise costs at the end. | Ben Schollenberger | |
| 5/5 | David and team were amazing. A little pricey but the work they did was perfect. They were on time and worked as fast as they could while respecting the fragile items. I would recommend them to anyone looking to move. | Adam | |
| 5/5 | Our crew did a great job with our local move. They were efficient and worked hard! I would recommend them to anyone. | Katy Fleming | |
| 5/5 | Worked great. Easy to set up, arrived on time, moved everything smoothly, and fit truck into a side street we thought would be impossible to reach without a problem. | Jim Bell | |
| 5/5 | I couldn't be happier with the Stairhopper moving experience. I scheduled my move several months in advance, and the customer service team did a wonderful job of staying in contact so that I knew nothing had changed in the scheduling. The moving team was extremely professional, moved quickly, had a great attitude, and packed all my belongings very neatly in the moving truck. I paid about $900 (before tip) for about 3.5 hours of work by a four-man crew, which I found very fair considering we loaded at two different locations, one of which had four flights of stairs to navigate. I also benefited from the 10% discount for paying in cash. I've moved 6 US, and this was easily the best crew I've worked with. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to use Stairhopper again. | Mike Fletcher | |
| 5/5 | The crew of three arrived right on time and started working immediately. They were incredibly efficient and followed every instruction perfectly, checking in with me whenever necessary to ensure everything was handled correctly. They managed all of my furniture with great care, and everything was moved without a single scratch or any damage. I am very happy with the service; the price was quite reasonable, especially with the 10% discount for paying in cash. I would highly recommend this team to anyone looking for reliable movers! | Emiko Suga | |
| 5/5 | I had such an amazing experience with Stairhopper Movers! The team arrived right on time, they were so friendly, handled everything with exceptional care. When it started down pouring they only worked harder. Everything arrived in perfect condition. I cannot recommend enough, 10/10! | Meg McLaughlin | |
| 5/5 | We had a wonderful experience with Stairhopper Movers! It's hard to find a great moving company that you feel comfortable with these days, and Stairhopper went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. The booking process was EASY: you talk to a real live human on the phone and they don't have to send some third party company to your house for a quote of FaceTime. The day of move-in was a breeze and the movers were efficient, kind, and careful! We were nervous all of our stuff wasn't going to fit but they are master packers of that truck! Our move was long distance so we didn't see the truck for almost 24 hours, but Stairhopper and our driver kept us updated, and they were super flexible with us on move-in day the next day. I would 100% use them again. | Caroline Mackin | |

| 4/5 | I think movers were good. The only part I did not like is they are charging you when they start coming to your home from their warehouse. Not when they reach out to your home. Otherwise not bad. | ka isk | |
| 4/5 | Overall, very good experience. The move went smoothly and very well, the movers were overall, gentle and professional. They came fully equipped with their own packing materials and handled everything with great attention. The only downside is that they charge you for the tape they use to wrap the furniture. It's a cheap tape and they use an excessive amount of it (honestly much more than necessary). They charge $6 per roll, which is quite unreasonable considering how much they use and the fact that they often leave rolls half used (and don't leave them with you even though you have paid for them). So in conclusion, buy your own tape for a reasonable price. Also (this is not a complaint) for liability reasons, they don't remove anything from the wall or mount furniture using drills. So, be prepared to have your own drill and screws if you need to secure anything to the wall afterward. | Lucia Campo | |
| 4/5 | Movers were friendly and fast, and handled our stuff with care! The movers accidentally took our step ladder thinking it was theirs (understandably) - but I called customer service and they apologized and returned it the next day! Price was also quoted ~$300 less than others, though I think the additional fees of them wrapping up some of our items were over-priced and over-counted. | Christina | |
| 4/5 | Two-ish of the five given. The movers themselves did a great job; they arrived on time, and they were friendly and efficient. My main complaint (and reason I will not use them ever again) is the 3-hour minimum that was not stated clearly in the quote or in any communications. It can only be found in the fine print of a Terms and Conditions box that is hidden by default. I had a very small move (just moving things from a PO to a 10x10 storage unit), and even though this took less than 1 hour, I was still charged for 3 hours of labor and they would not back down on it. This was incredibly frustrating, and it took me a long time searching their website to find any disclosure of the 3-hour minimum. Buyers beware! | Allie Southerland | |
| 4/5 | There was some damage done but they made some compensations to make it right. It was an accident and they did more than I thought they would. This was the second time I used them. First time I had no problems. I would consider using them again because of this goodwill. | Steve Yang | |
| 3/5 | So they keep asking me to review and here it is. Now that I am unpacked I can leave an accurate review. While unpacking I realized they stuffed most boxes with 3-5 items and stuffing it with massive amounts of paper. In one whole box I had just an hour glass and its like 4 inches tall. Most boxes just had 1 item in it and I supplied some boxes. I had a bunch of stuff already in boxes and they removed it. I was wondering what took them so long. Their arrived at 2 and we didn't get to my new apartment until 6 which was scary because wasn't sure we'd get access to the loading dock. The movers were cool. Again my biggest issue is all the paper stuffed boxes and they charge you for the materials and time. I paid 175 an hour for them to stuff boxes with paper. | Dee BostonRock | |
| 3/5 | The actual move was fine overall. However, the total cost of the move ended up being over twice as much as what was quoted. The movers refused to use any of the packing/moving materials that we bought for them to use, which was perfectly sufficient. Then they of course charged us for all the supplies they brought. Finally, the time you're charged for the move apparently begins when the movers pickup the truck. There wasn't any legitimate documentation giving what time they picked up the truck and the route they took to get to our place other than what they manually documented in their system to begin packing. So you basically have to trust that their word. That being said, they charged us a whole hour for their commute from where they picked up the truck (we were located in Back Bay)... There's no way it took them an hour to get to us at 7:00 in the morning. | Chad Papineau | |
| 3/5 | Just used Stairhoppers because they are a preferred vendor for the building I moved to and I think the experience was just average. Nothing too exceptional to write home about and that's why they get the mid rating. I will say I got 3 great movers and I appreciate that they went to both Providence and Indianapolis and hired their services to bring my furniture up to my unit. They were pretty efficient but undoubtedly did try to pad the time by taking multiple trips back from the truck to the apt for single items, which is probably standard practice in Boston. The moving team was not as caring/personable as they could have been and just left with an average feel of it overall. What's worse is there is no way to tip the bill (which seems standard, given the fact that they got an even bigger amount noting they charged me for 3 hours and didn't work for 3 hours), but nonetheless the guy I settled up with only turned his nose at my 20% tip and that is another reason they got a 3-star rating. Overall I think this experience was just average and there are plenty of other companies in the Boston area to use. | Joseph MacPhee | |
| 3/5 | Good gym price. Just wouldn't recommend if you're on a budget. Self storage and moving will be significantly cheaper. Ended up costing me about $1600 to move my stuff out to storage, keep it there for 3 months, and move it back. Also be aware that you are not allowed to pickup the items from storage yourself. You are not allowed to enter their warehouse, so they charge you a labor fee to have their workers take your things out for you. | Max Bodley | |
| 3/5 | Great movers and efficient although a tad bit pricey. | Dillon Castelli | |
| 2/5 | The movers were careless with packing my belongings leading to broken items, rushed the time to move everything, and while I understand virtual quotes won't be 100% accurate, the quote was not even 50% of what the final price ended up being. It was short by $800. I will look elsewhere for movers in the future. | James W | |
| 2/5 | Have used these guys in the past with decent success, but they don't handle smaller moves. Bummer!! | Andrew Hargano | |
| 2/5 | Was expecting a great experience based on reviews read, but to our disappointment, the mover broke our glass top table to pieces. They compensated it for certain amount but damage was done. Other than that, they moved all other things fine. | Hendy Trisnadi | |
| 2/5 | Gave me a high quote to unpack a very small delivery. That is their prerogative, and wouldn't merit a negative review, but there was a communication issue involving their business partner, which they tried to distance themselves from (fair enough) by putting the blame on me (not cool). Choose a different company. | Allison Teri | |
| 1/5 | I did not start unpacking until two months after moving only found out that my furniture (a $500 MLQ bed) was damaged. Besides that they left a whole piece of furniture in my previous apartment (a shelf hidden behind the bathroom door worth $150) and told me everything was moved out. A wall switch was also cracked. I was charged for $200 more packing material fee without being asked first (they claimed it to be wrapping paper), etc. not gonna use their service again. Very disappointed very angry. | Maya Lin | |
| 1/5 | I moved with stairhoppers July 2023. Horrible experience. They broke a $350 a/c unit. I was on the 1st floor but there were some stairs to ground level to load up the truck. At one point I started bringing things to the curb for them because it was taking so long. At no point did they use a dolly they carried each box by hand. I own a dolly about I have refused to use it. They frequently took breaks. This was first thing in the morning so not too hot, they seemed well rested. I'm totally OK with them using the bathroom but I have moved several times and I have never had such frequent bathroom breaks. They also look every opportunity to use their horrible tape, as a door stop (bunch up a bit of it and stuck it to the floor), over my own taped items, to tape pillows?!! I provided high quality tape and moving plastic wrap. They preferred their own. But I guess they forgot which was which and began using my plastic wrap. Only to charge me for both the tape and the plastic wrap at the end (my own plastic wrap). There was also some confusion about my sofa which would not fit in the elevator at the destination. For whatever reason they had kept parts of the sofa (cushions) on the truck and kept asking what I was going to do with it. The cushions did fit in the elevator, I had to ask them specifically to remove the items from their truck and take them to my apt. Horrible experience that ended up costing me several hundred dollars more than quoted. | Maya Gough | |
| 1/5 | these were the movers for one of our neighbors. they blocked our driveway during the move, and then ran into a telephone pole as they were leaving, knocking it down and shutting down the entire street for a day. seems like that might not be the best. | Melody Morris | |
| 1/5 | This is the worst website I ever used. I am putting together an automated quote and it made me go through the entire inventory which took 15-20 minutes just to tell me they were not available on the dates I requested. Why not just ask people up front with a few qualifying questions? | Gabriella Woods | |
| 1/5 | I had the most stressful move with this company. If I could rate them most negatively, I would. Out of 3 people that I hired to help me move, 1 person spoke broken English, the other 2 didn't speak English at all. Most of the time they just stared at me, not understanding a word I was saying. They were lazy, slow, just waiting for the time to pass by. I was paying them by the hour. | Natalia Volkova | |
| 1/5 | They got the job done, but it was expensive for how long they took for 3 guys with a 1 bedroom. Make sure to read the fine print, they charge much more than listed because of trash removal and a so called business doctrine and a junk rip off. Also saw them carrying one thing in a huge bin on wheels with three people then slowly walking back to the truck. It was so slow it was a joke. Then there was a desk that should be included, I didn't see them carrying one case with 3 people on wheels and they didn't think the desk should be included. Called and complained and they offered $50 dollars back. Will not recommend to the vast amount of people I know moving in the next couple months. | Justin Saunders | |
| 1/5 | DO NOT USE THEM! Double parks, blocks active driveways, calls to number on truck goes nowhere. Requested to move (phone). 2 out of 3 man crew don't speak english - unknown if the 3rd one does. If you want your neighbors to hate you before even moving in, DO NOT USE! | L L | |
| 1/5 | Don't trust these guys. Their rates are higher than their competition, they tack on little charges for every small thing, they damage your property, and make excuses. Since they take no liability and overcharging you, there is NO reason to use them. You're better off with any cheaper movers which will probably do the same thing. At least you'll save some money on the hourly rates to cover. Note: I am posting this on behalf of a friend to keep anonymity. | David Ericson | |
| 1/5 | I needed two estimates. 1. Local to storage. 2. Out of state. They would not come and do an in person estimate at my property. They did it by FaceTime, and the entire time the guy just kept saying yup, yeah... looking at the screen half the time. Then I get my estimate, which took 2 days, and there were 14 items I don't even own added to my move. I called to complain and they took the items off my estimate, which lowered the local move, but not the out of state move. I asked why, and the guy said the out of state move doesn't go by weight, it's a flat fee based on a 3br house. I then said that doesn't make sense because what if one 3br house is 1100 sq ft, and another is 2800? He said that's how they do it, a flat fee based on the 3br house. So I called Dave. | Nicholas Cappello | |
| 1/5 | Your interactive move request is such a waste of time. If you're not available, why make someone put in a detailed inventory through your stupid, time consuming online inventory application? Thanks for wasting my time. I'll definitely remember never to use Stairhopper. | Carlton Hoyt | |
| 1/5 | Called to get a price for storage for a year and asked if I can come and see the warehouse so I can feel comfortable leaving my belongings there.. was told that I can not see it and everything can only be done over the phone. Lady was very rude. STAY AWAY! there are many better options out there. | Condos West | |
| 1/5 | Pulled into my driveway after breaking down and we're performing mechanic services. Someone put gas in the diesel tank and they proceeded to drain into buckets and ruin my asphalt driveway. There is a 24/7 tow service at the end of the street. These guys are the definition of unprofessional. | Michael Butera | |
| 1/5 | HIGHWAY MENACE!! ON MARCH 24TH GOING THRU THE TUNNEL THIS BOX TRUCK CUT ME OFF MAKING AN UNPROVOKED LANE CHANGE. WHEN I PASSED THEM FOR GOING SLOW AND HOLDING UP TRAFFIC THE DRIVER AND 2ND PERSON WERE GIVING ME THE FINGER AND JERKING OFF MOTIONS. THIS TRUCK DRIVER IS A MENACE. IM SURE THIS ISN'T THIS IDIOTS 1ST TIME AT GETTING IN TROUBLE!! | QUINNY | |
| 1/5 | Didn't even answer the phone | Balal H | |
| 1/5 | After so many moving companies, I regret choosing Stairhopper. The 3-man crew assigned to my move is the worst I've had. I give 2 stars instead of 1 as Stairhopper was kind when I called after my move to discuss the issues. I would never use this company again, though. | Y M | |
| 1/5 | Not polite entire time, ran up the clock taking these sweet times getting lost!! I did agree to pay for moving truck to return to there yard but evidently the yard must be in Portland Maine! Did do decent job. I strongly suggest getting a complete price b4 move !! | Pete Petersen | |
| 1/5 | Over use and usage of materials. They use tapes like crazy, ridiculously over taping things and give you boxes like they are free. Ended up paying for close to $300 in materials. A $1000 quote turned out to be over $1500, more than not move from NYC to Boston a year ago. | Yuri Gu | |
| 1/5 | people were fast and professional. Moving one star because they only took about two hours but still charges minimum of three hours. I was not aware or being told of the policy when I signed up for it. Also, they said 10% off when paying with cash, but they did not have changes for me and took $2 more from me. | Sly |

David and team were amazing. A little pricey but the work they did was perfect. They were on time and worked as fast as they could while respecting the fragile items. I would recommend them to anyone looking to move.
Adam
Our crew did a great job with our local move. They were efficient and worked hard! I would recommend them to anyone.
Katy Fleming
Worked great. Easy to set up, arrived on time, moved everything smoothly, and fit truck into a side street we thought would be impossible to reach without a problem.
Jim Bell
I couldn't be happier with the Stairhopper moving experience.

The crew of three arrived right on time and started working immediately.
Emiko Suga
I had such an amazing experience with Stairhopper Movers! The team arrived right on time, they were so friendly, handled everything with exceptional care. When it started down pouring they only worked harder. Everything arrived in perfect condition. I cannot recommend enough, 10/10!

We had a wonderful experience with Stairhopper Movers!
Caroline Mackin
We had a great experience with Stairhoppers. It was easy to get a quote online, and their pricing and process were very transparent from the start. They responded quickly to questions and communicated clearly throughout the entire process.
Marijke Schuurman
Stairhoppers. Done three moves with them and never any complaints.
thechenexperience
Cosign. Stairhoppers might have been the only good moving experience I've ever had.
am_i_wrong_dude
100%. Stairhoppers. also when I moved in 2022 they had a nice discount for cash
Bonku
And Stairhoppers gives a 5% discount for paying in cash which is a nice little bonus!
EfficientArrival4422
Can recommend. Fast, efficient, decently careful, and reasonably priced. 4 coworkers have also used stairhopper and all had good experiences as well.

Stairhopper is the best

I always used Stairhoppers and it usually costs between 1100 and 2000 if you pack yourself.

Stairhopper Movers in Boston did a great job for my move from North of Boston to the South Shore about a year ago, they were very thorough, not to mention budget friendly for my constraints, I hardly had to lift a finger.
AmbitionOld2497
I had no complaints with Stairhoppers, and they were by far the most affordable for my small move.
mtmsm
About to use Stairhopper for the third time, they're fantastic.
frentmoe
I've used stairhoppers 3 times and will likely use them next time I need movers. It ain't cheap but not as bad as you'd think. Depending on distance, I've usually gotten a 1 bd apartment situation moved for under 1k after tips and stuff.
chirpchirp13
We used Stairhopper movers had a good experience! They were professional, efficient, careful with our stuff, etc. It ended up coming in below what they quoted us, I want to say around $800 vs a $1200ish quote for a 1 bedroom.
gnomesizedbicycle
Used them too, would again
finebus412
I was happy with stair hoppers, 2k plus tip for 2b/2b that took half a day
WearableBilss
Stairhoppers was great in our experience as well. We ran over the quote but that's due to the team building a hoist to get our sectional in.

I used Stairhopper Movers. This was two years ago, but a 4-man crew for similar distance move was in the $1,500 range.

I think movers were good. The only part I did not like is they are charging you when they start coming to your home from their warehouse. Not when they reach out to your home. Otherwise not bad.

Overall, very good experience.
Lucia Campo
Movers were friendly and fast, and handled our stuff with care! The movers accidentally took our step ladder thinking it was theirs (understandably) - but I called customer service and they apologized and returned it the next day! Price was also quoted ~$300 less than others, though I think the additional fees of them wrapping up some of our items were over-priced and over-counted.
Christina
Two-ish of the five given.
Allie Southerland
There was some damage done but they made some compensations to make it right. It was an accident and they did more than I thought they would. This was the second time I used them. First time I had no problems. I would consider using them again because of this goodwill.
Steve Yang
So they keep asking me to review and here it is.
Dee BostonRock
The actual move was fine overall.

Just used Stairhoppers because they are a preferred vendor for the building I moved to and I think the experience was just average.

Good gym price.
Max Bodley
Great movers and efficient although a tad bit pricey.
Dillon Castelli
The movers were careless with packing my belongings leading to broken items, rushed the time to move everything, and while I understand virtual quotes won't be 100% accurate, the quote was not even 50% of what the final price ended up being. It was short by $800. I will look elsewhere for movers in the future.
James W
Have used these guys in the past with decent success, but they don't handle smaller moves. Bummer!!
Andrew Hargano
Was expecting a great experience based on reviews read, but to our disappointment, the mover broke our glass top table to pieces. They compensated it for certain amount but damage was done. Other than that, they moved all other things fine.
Hendy Trisnadi
Gave me a high quote to unpack a very small delivery. That is their prerogative, and wouldn't merit a negative review, but there was a communication issue involving their business partner, which they tried to distance themselves from (fair enough) by putting the blame on me (not cool). Choose a different company.
Allison Teri
I did not start unpacking until two months after moving only found out that my furniture (a $500 MLQ bed) was damaged.

I moved with stairhoppers July 2023.
Maya Gough
these were the movers for one of our neighbors. they blocked our driveway during the move, and then ran into a telephone pole as they were leaving, knocking it down and shutting down the entire street for a day. seems like that might not be the best.
Melody Morris
This is the worst website I ever used. I am putting together an automated quote and it made me go through the entire inventory which took 15-20 minutes just to tell me they were not available on the dates I requested. Why not just ask people up front with a few qualifying questions?
Gabriella Woods
I had the most stressful move with this company.
Natalia Volkova
They got the job done, but it was expensive for how long they took for 3 guys with a 1 bedroom.
Justin Saunders
DO NOT USE THEM! Double parks, blocks active driveways, calls to number on truck goes nowhere. Requested to move (phone). 2 out of 3 man crew don't speak english - unknown if the 3rd one does. If you want your neighbors to hate you before even moving in, DO NOT USE!
L L
Don't trust these guys.

I needed two estimates.
Nicholas Cappello
Your interactive move request is such a waste of time. If you're not available, why make someone put in a detailed inventory through your stupid, time consuming online inventory application? Thanks for wasting my time. I'll definitely remember never to use Stairhopper.
Carlton Hoyt
Called to get a price for storage for a year and asked if I can come and see the warehouse so I can feel comfortable leaving my belongings there.. was told that I can not see it and everything can only be done over the phone. Lady was very rude. STAY AWAY! there are many better options out there.
Condos West
Pulled into my driveway after breaking down and we're performing mechanic services. Someone put gas in the diesel tank and they proceeded to drain into buckets and ruin my asphalt driveway. There is a 24/7 tow service at the end of the street. These guys are the definition of unprofessional.

HIGHWAY MENACE!!

After so many moving companies, I regret choosing Stairhopper. The 3-man crew assigned to my move is the worst I've had. I give 2 stars instead of 1 as Stairhopper was kind when I called after my move to discuss the issues. I would never use this company again, though.
Y M
Not polite entire time, ran up the clock taking these sweet times getting lost!! I did agree to pay for moving truck to return to there yard but evidently the yard must be in Portland Maine! Did do decent job. I strongly suggest getting a complete price b4 move !!
Pete Petersen
Over use and usage of materials. They use tapes like crazy, ridiculously over taping things and give you boxes like they are free. Ended up paying for close to $300 in materials. A $1000 quote turned out to be over $1500, more than not move from NYC to Boston a year ago.
Yuri Gu
people were fast and professional. Moving one star because they only took about two hours but still charges minimum of three hours. I was not aware or being told of the policy when I signed up for it. Also, they said 10% off when paying with cash, but they did not have changes for me and took $2 more from me.
