We reluctantly agreed, but it quickly became clear that this was their standard practice. The damage they caused was even worse. In an attempt to move their truck closer to the basement, they got stuck in the lawn, leaving deep ruts all over the yard. I had to pay out-of-pocket for landscaping repairs, including sod replacement — on a home that had already been sold. Then came the furniture disaster: I walked into the master bedroom to find my wife's jewelry armoire carelessly placed on top of a brand-new dresser, delivered just the day before. The movers who came to pick up our items used the boxes we had assembled and simply threw our belongings in without any sort of packaging. My stainless-steel trashcan was thrown into the same box as my shredder, fan, and grill, without any protective packaging. My marble base was chipped all over, my bookcase bottom was completely cracked due to their reckless handling. Unfortunately, the disregard for our belongings didn't end there. We were charged a fee for packaging, despite our items being poorly packed and carelessly handled.
