overcharged . damaged . bait and switch
Quoted 1,600 and told there were 50 large boxes of space remaining. On pickup day, a different company showed up and doubled the price claiming extra items, despite consumer being told they had extra space. Told delivery would take 10 days, took nearly 20 with almost no communication. Told twice they were 3 to 5 days away. Yet another company delivered. Two expensive items broken in half including a 500 dollar coffee table. Claims process offers only 60 cents per pound, approximately 10 dollars for a 500 dollar item. Many items scratched and cracked.

Was told the driver controls the cost. I asked him how much he said itd be 500 cash. I went and got the cash and gave it to him. He got everything in the truck. I watched them break multiple items/drop boxes. They got everything packed after about 4.5 hours. They told me itll actually be 3800 and he kept the 500 in cash I gave him. Stole it. The police were called. I called safe shield and the moving company the day of and the next day as I was confused and never was told itd be a 3rd party company. At drop off 10 days later even though it was only 250 miles away... the drop off guys said they didnt protect our items like they were supposed to. And told me they fired one of the guys. I called both companies again multiple times I was told next relocation would figure out what was going on. Now weeks later they dont know what Im talking about no ones been fired and they say I gave him that as a tip. Which isnt what happened at all. They are complete scammers both safe shield and next relocation.

Consumer quoted 3,000 by Safe Shield Moving Services (broker). Not told a third-party company would perform the move. Driver demanded 500 cash, said he controlled the cost. After loading, price changed to 3,800. Driver kept the 500 cash, claimed as tip. Police were called. Multiple items broken, boxes dropped during loading. Delivery took 10 days for a 250-mile move. Delivery crew said pickup crew did not protect items properly and that one worker had been fired. Weeks later, Next Relocation denies any knowledge, denies anyone was fired, claims the 500 was a tip.
Connected Fraud Network
Florida Broker-Carrier Pipeline
Low quote by FL broker -> large deposit ($1,400-$3,000) -> subcontract to LoadRans or similar CA carrier -> price doubled or tripled at pickup -> belongings held hostage in public storage under carrier's name -> cash/Zelle/money order demanded before unloading -> damaged and missing items -> boilerplate BBB response
Estimated scope: Likely thousands based on 750+ BBB complaints alone. Coastal Moving Services has 316 complaints in 3 years and 1,377 BBB reviews.
