We've used meathead movers a few times, including very recently. They have always been impressively professional, quick and careful which is why I keep going back. Employees are all W2, which means they have training and are paid overtime and motivated, not just random people looking for work that day. Best part, you can leave everything in drawers, you don't have to pack it up beforehand.

I don't recommend Meathead movers if you have anything fragile. I saw lots of recs for them when I was moving. They managed to break my handmade glass lampshade when I was moving around the corner less than .5 miles down the road. That lampshade made it through my cross country move with no issue but those guys managed to shatter it on a 2 minute drive.

Independent in San Luis Obispo and Camarillo. A VERY GOOD PERFORMER with at least 5 good reviews and no significant bad reviews on this website. Website meatheadmovers.com. Phone 805-544-6328 (SLO) and 805-966-6328 (Camarillo). As of 10/19/10 had 'A+' rating with 1 complaint over the past 36 months. Its website explains how it got its strange name. In 2008 it was selected as 'Best Moving Company' by both the local paper in SLO (for the eighth year in a row) and the largest paper in Ventura County (the Ventura County Star). It has been licensed for interstate moves since 2001, but in practice it does only intra-CA moves. In 10/07, 'Amalia' posted that her family had used Meathead several times over the past few years and the workers were always 'friendly, professional, strong, and most importantly, competent'. 'jfriedman' (real name Jim Friedman), manager of Hollywood Storage Center in Thousand Oaks, praised Meathead highly for its services to him in a review posted in 8/08.

I want to start by saying, customer service was, absolutely amazing from what I can tell. I spoke to Amber on the phone and she was so so kind to me. I can only imagine that the rest of the service is great. THAT being said. To get here for your quote, here. About 20-50 minutes to look down just about every possible question for your move. And for that 3 hours and 3 movers, I was quoted roughly $1200 dollars. I'm sure the service is amazing. But that was out of my price range. I think a better practice for them would be to simply ask right off the bat what your budget is or have some sort of standardized 3 movers = cost and 4 hours = cost... instead we both had a lot of time on the phone lost. One again though I just want to say Amber was super sweet and very helpful. No fault on her.

The guys were great! Unfortunately I did notice some small damages to some furniture. No big deal overall happy with the service! They were great and every quick!

They were great and efficient but the lead guy said he didn't appreciate anything being added the day of not rude but not friendly. My husband was working and I am in a wheelchair. Fix, we have used you 2 times before and recommended you.

Support services were great, contacted us prior, during and after move. Crews were prompt, courteous, really listened during the walk-through, and worked full days until the job was done. The unloading crew was amazing, taking great care to place every piece carefully, with cheerful, kind, and helpful attitudes. The only reason not 5 is a few areas of improvement noted for the packing crew: they did not notice that shoe boxes and such on the high glass kitchen shelf were glass and broke on the floor during move around packing. It seems the last box of random items in each room was lacking any bubble wrap/paper-wrap. And two out of three plates (porcelain and bowls) were stacked 3 plates or 3 bowls together instead of being individually wrapped (2 could hear them clink against each other as I unwrapped them). Thankfully no damage to items because of these. All in all, I would happy use and recommend using Meathead Movers again!

It would have a been perfect experience but the company decided to only send 2 movers instead of 3 which was quoted. This resulted in a 10 hr move and I had to help for a majority of the move. Our 3 bedroom, 2 story move should have had 3 movers but the company is short staffed and only sent 2 movers. This was totally unacceptable for the amount of money we paid. The movers were awesome! Total professionals. The moving truck was great, too. Kudos to our movers who knew they got a raw deal by the company only providing 2 movers and still worked very hard.

Had a great experience with the movers Carlos and Alex. They were very thorough and careful with all of our belongings. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to move and get it done right, the first time but not if you are looking to save money. Also, I do have to say their business model they projected is not what played out. They told us they were going have the guys sprint and get it done as quickly as possible. There was NO sprinting or even brisk walking. I felt they were taking their time on purpose, they should have had 1 or 2 more guys. We had everything boxed up and we were shuffling things back and forth to the truck so we were not allowed to help or put anything on the truck. This was VERY FRUSTRATING. I asked to help multiple times. I told them they didn't need to do some of their procedures and they said they had to, which took so much time. I felt like one guy was just chilling in there doing nothing at times, he was SO SLOW. I mean I literally could have gotten in there and disassembled my bed quicker had I known this would take so long. We kept asking how we're doing on time and he was telling us we were totally fine on time, but he was talking about the time to NOT exceed vs the time we were talking about the MHM time. All of a sudden when we got the final total it was waayyy more than we wanted to pay and I'm PISSED. Lots of hidden fees that were not discussed ahead of time and if the total was to be so much higher this should have been communicated at every step of the way because we would have done it differently. It was already super expensive at first so we didn't want to go much over that. Moving is expensive and if we can shave off a dollars here and there, we'd like to, but these people made sure we spent as much money as possible. I would NOT recommend them for that. I have a bad taste in my mouth from this, feeling like I got cheated. Not cool.

Nice individuals. Unfortunately when lead person took many breaks as he had intestinal problems, the other workers stopped working until he returned. Thus an hour of time I was charged for was wasted. Also 3 boxes were crushed due to heavy boxes being put on top of stacks.

The movers were friendly and loaded up the house effectively and in-line with the time estimate they gave. However, the unloading process was complete disorganized and took more than double the estimated time. The time continually disregarded advice that we have on the order of unpacking to make things easier. We ended up doing the wrap of a couple of rooms ourselves, including moving heavy carpets, just to help move things along. I have used Meathead before and have been happy with their service. It really felt like we got a bad team this time.

We did a full content 4 full pack and move on the kitchen and two children's rooms, plus moving of all the major furniture. The packers were supposed to pack for three hours but only stayed for two and a half. They did not finish packing up one of the kids' rooms. The next day, the movers moved everything that had been packed, the furniture, and boxes from the garage, but did not include all the loose items in the kids' rooms. The movers themselves were great. They were courteous, hard working, and dedicated to getting the job done. But I am disappointed that we did not get the service that we signed up (and paid for). We had to take several trips by car to retrieve the items left behind in the room that was supposed to be fully packed and moved.

The movers seem very polite but very unexperienced. The move took an excessive amount of time. There was no jogging in between as we were informed, only slow walks from room to room. Furniture had to be taken apart and not the same when placed back together. Primary bedroom vanity door makes a screeching sound and a screw fell out when the drawer was opened a couple of times. I would never refer or advise anyone to use this company. False advertisement. We have moved 21 times and never have had this experience.

Moved from 1 bedroom to another 1 bedroom with 3 movers here in ventura. From start to finish, having the guys being 5'5, not running everywhere (as per contract), damaging materials (suitcase and a couple of wardrobe/suit linings), and to tops it off the branch manager calling me from a blocked number, not able to reach him back during the busiest period of the day. Please use your money and go elsewhere. This service was good 3 years ago but obviously had declined. Changed to a full 1 stars since although the movers had mentioned to one of the easiest jobs, and no accountability taken.

HORRIFIC. I used this company 6/2024 and gave 5 star review on google. So, naturally I would use them again. After booking and providing everything on the website on a scheduled day they gave to (1/04/25) at my office. Price gouging was just the cherry on top. I called in the middle of my move to complain (as I was told to do at start) and was told to let them finish. The night before, my friends and I loaded up SUVs and one large truck to transport all the boxes. In an effort to save costs and minimize moving time. This left with just furniture to move; one couch, one dining room table and chair, two tv and beds one big and two dressers. VERY MINIMAL. At the 3 hour mark they still had not loaded the truck. This is when I called Meathead because this crew was clearly struggling. They left furniture and finish mirrors and walls and some banisters of toys. Appalled I called driver and asked them to come back. I got worse but I am sure you get the point. Ruined furniture, marked up walls and after their total to tell me I owe $1520 when I have a quote/invoice for $1308 but to exceed $1700.
