I have used more than a handful of professional movers over the past few years and, unfortunately, have had my share of horror stories. Because of that, I never had the desire to re-use a moving company. That was until my most recent move yesterday. My crew was outstanding! I had an extremely negative experience with this moving company. The initial estimate was $2,905, but when the job was finally done, they demanded $5,400 — almost double the original quote. The move was estimated at 8 hours, but it ended up taking 15 hours with additional worker and truck, going late into the night. What made the situation worse was that I was told I had to sign and pay immediately or the workers would not be allowed to leave. This felt very pressured and unprofessional. After negotiating, I still ended up paying far more than expected.

The bid: I was quoted 2 hours for $401. It ended up being 4 hours and $1,000. The lady on the phone said it was a simple 2-bedroom but I told her about the gym equipment and 2 TVs and yet it was waaaaay over the estimate. Even my property manager said she noticed they were moving incredibly slow. I was even helping carry in out boxes to help speed this up. Sometimes they'd grab one item with one hand and just take that. I was only moving 350 feet down the street.

There were three movers, and one of them was on the phone most of the time, making the whole process larger than expected. They repeatedly hit the walls and doors with the furniture and kept banging the front door of our new house as if it didn't matter. It was frustrating to watch. We did looking for the screws from one of the TV stand. We have no idea what they did with it.
