The Moving Company That Dumped Furniture on Skid Row Runs 4 Entities From One Apartment

Just after midnight on July 3, 2024, a truck bearing the VIP Moving Company name pulled up near 6th and San Pedro streets in downtown Los Angeles and began unloading furniture onto the sidewalk in the middle of Skid Row. Video captured by OnScene.TV showed men handing out couches, a refrigerator, a BBQ grill, a keyboard, yard furniture, and a ping-pong table to anyone who could carry them.

The driver told onlookers the owner wanted to "donate" the items. KTLA, ABC7, FOX 11, and NBC Los Angeles all covered the story. Jeff Hudson, CEO of the Union Rescue Mission, called the dumping "senseless." ABC7 identified the company as VIP Pro Moving, based in Marina Del Rey.

We looked up VIP Pro Moving LLC on the FMCSA SAFER database. The company is registered at a Marina Del Rey apartment with one truck and one driver. Then we found three more entities connected to the same operator at the same apartment address, including an interstate carrier that recently relocated to Texas with one of the worst driver safety records in federal data.

VIP Pro Moving LLC (USDOT 3803920) is registered at 4209 Via Marina, Apt C502, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292. That is a residential apartment in a waterfront complex.

The company's SAFER record shows one power unit and one driver. Its operating authority is listed as "NOT AUTHORIZED" for interstate moves. It holds a California PUC intrastate moving license (MTR 0192551) under the name of its general manager, Aitas Beressov.

The owner listed on the BBB profile is Zarina Sagingaliyeva. The company is not BBB accredited.

Despite the single truck on file, VIP Pro Moving has 768 reviews on Yelp. A BBB complaint noted that when the customer called, they were told the company was "a big company with multiple trucks." The FMCSA record says otherwise.

That same complaint reported that half the customer's belongings arrived broken, a glass tabletop was smashed, and watches and jewelry disappeared after the move.

California business records and FMCSA data connect Aitas Beressov to at least four entities:

VIP Movers LLC was the earliest. Court records show a small claims lawsuit (Tavakoli v. VIP Movers LLC) in the Santa Monica Courthouse, with Beressov appearing as the company's representative.

VIP Pro Moving LLC was incorporated in California on November 10, 2021 (CA SOS entity 202131610923). This is the entity caught on camera during the Skid Row dumping.

Aitas Beressov Corp was formed on May 2, 2023 (CA SOS entity 5693488), registered at the same Marina Del Rey apartment. It holds a separate California PUC registration.

Father and Sons Moving Inc (USDOT 3831941, MC 1390398) was originally registered at the same Marina Del Rey apartment. Its FMCSA record shows the company has since relocated to 4220 Sloane St, Apt 2037, Carrollton, Texas. Note the pattern: another apartment address.

All four entities trace back to the same operator and, in three cases, the same apartment.

Father and Sons Moving Inc is the most concerning entity in the chain. Unlike VIP Pro Moving, it holds authorized interstate operating authority for both general property and household goods.

The company reports three power units and six drivers, with 1.49 million annual miles driven in 2026. Its phone number is still a 213 (Los Angeles) area code despite the Texas registration.

The FMCSA safety data is alarming. Over the most recent 24-month reporting period, Father and Sons Moving underwent 21 driver inspections. Eleven of those, 52.4%, resulted in the driver being placed out of service. The national average for driver out-of-service rates is approximately 5.5%.

A driver placed out of service has been found in violation of safety regulations serious enough that the driver is prohibited from operating until the violation is corrected. When more than half of all inspections result in this outcome, it suggests a systemic disregard for driver safety compliance.

The company also had 8 vehicle inspections with a 12.5% out-of-service rate, more than double the national average. No crashes are recorded.

The structure here follows a pattern seen across the moving industry.

A small operation registers at a residential address with minimal fleet on paper. It accumulates reviews and builds an online presence that makes it look larger than it is. When problems accumulate at one entity, a new one is formed at the same address. Meanwhile, the entity that holds actual interstate authority quietly relocates to a different state.

VIP Pro Moving tells customers it is a big company with multiple trucks. Federal records say it has one. Father and Sons Moving reports 1.49 million annual miles across three trucks, which works out to nearly 500,000 miles per truck per year, a figure that raises serious questions about driver rest compliance.

The Skid Row dumping incident drew coverage from four major Los Angeles news outlets. None traced the entity chain back to the other companies operating from the same apartment.

Check every moving company on the FMCSA SAFER database at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov. Look at the number of power units and drivers. If a company claims to be large but FMCSA shows one truck, that is a discrepancy worth questioning.

Verify the company's physical address. If it is a residential apartment, that does not automatically mean fraud, but it does mean the company is likely smaller than its marketing suggests.

For interstate moves, confirm the company shows "AUTHORIZED" under operating authority. If it shows "NOT AUTHORIZED" or "Intrastate Only," it cannot legally transport your belongings across state lines.
