Case Timeline
Robert C. . California to Tennessee . 2021-06
Hired Safe Ship Moving Services (broker) for CA to TN move. Safe Ship dispatched "FebEx," a carrier using a fake FedEx-lookalike logo, whose listed address was an empty building in Reno, NV. Belongings held hostage for over 3 months past the 7-21 day delivery window. A driver named "Mikhail" (Mike) demanded $1,500 in wire transfer "redelivery fees" and threatened they would never see their belongings again if they did not pay. Safe Ship customer service laughed about the situation on the phone. Agent "Lesley" told Robert: "don't make him angry, if you get upset with him he will block you and no longer respond. You'll never see your things again." Invoices were transferred between multiple companies with different names, contacts, and addresses, all of which led to dead ends (inactive websites, disconnected phones). Attorney was retained but shell companies made recovery impossible. Safe Ship CEO Roger Vance engaged Robert on Instagram, belittled his profession as a D1 Power 4 collegiate swim and Olympic coach, attempted intimidation, offered to fight, and made homophobic allusions. Robert has screenshots of all conversations saved.
