Independent in LA/Bell. As of 10/25/10 had an 'A' rating with the BBB and 8 complaints over the past 36 months. MC #420939. Website sterlingvanlines.com. Should not be confused with the FL company. Sterling in LA specializes in small moves going into and out of CA. 'Nancy' (works for a NAVL agent) has referred people with small shipments to the company and has said good things about it. She said that it sometimes brokers shipments out rather than hauling them itself. On interstate moves, it's probable that people's goods would be held in Sterling's warehouse until they had enough for a full trailer and transit times could be rather long, but this can be good for people who don't need their things right away. Pickup and delivery dates could be unpredictable. Multiple mixed reviews. Someone posting as 'moving soon' remarked that Sterling said they would charge by dimensional weight for his interstate shipment. 'jeni747' posted that Sterling was going to charge her about 40% extra for a very small shipment from DE to LA. We have a very good review by 'nowhere' of a within-CA move from LA to San Jose. We also have a very good review by 'cathie' on a CA to MD shipment that took three weeks to cross the country. We have a good preliminary report on a small move from LA to DC by 'La to DC' which was given to me in a Private Message. 'Palo Alto' gave a good review of a move within CA but it lacks detail. We have a basically good review by 'janet' on a move from the LA area to Michigan, although transit time was very long and there was a lot of misunderstanding about when delivery would take place. There is a review of a move by 'memcrulli' complaining that the shipment took two months to go from CO to San Francisco. It was on a truck rambling around the East Coast for weeks.
